The ride home

Last night we had a great night of bowling. We got back to the hostels about midnight. Most were in bed about 12:30 and up by 5:30 am. We left the hostels about 6:30 this morning to return our vans and meet our bus ride home.

Most people are asleep on the bus. We'll be stopping for lunch in beautiful Kettleman City.

Sorry, no blog yesterday - Trina stole my Blackberry to use a calculator. All sites did very well yesterday. Good progress. Walls are up at all four sites. A couple of sites have their roofs on and tar paper on the walls. We lost a couple of team members yesterday: Stuart Jacobson re-injured his knee and Ellie Jacobson became ill, both left for home yesterday. We hope they have a speedy recovery.

Border crossing

We just cleared the mexican border. We spent an hour and half going through customs, going INTO Mexico. All the vans and trailer emptied and searched with special dogs. We weren't sure if the dogs were trained for drugs, explosives or chicken, but they didn't find anything.

Should be in camp in 30-40 minutes.

Everyone is doing great and having fun. Thank you for all you support in getting us here.

2010 Sleepy Hollow Presbyterian Church Mexico Mission

On June 12th, the Sleepy Hollow Presbyterian Church's Mexico Mission will embark on a trip to either Tijuana or Rosarito to build homes for those in need.

This year's Mexico Mission team consists of 80 people, mostly high school students lead by a smaller group of College students and adults. Last year's group, of about 60 people, built two double size houses and finished off another house that had been started by another group. We
look forward to the challenges of this year's building.

We hope that you will check in on us here on the blog. We will post an update at least once daily (usually in the evening) and we may post pictures with brief captions during the day. Please feel free to comment by clicking on the "comments" link below.
