Got stuck in a little traffic in the East Bay. Currently at 80 and 580 - traffic's not so good. Maybe 5:15 arrival?

Back in the US

We are back in the US. We crossed at the Otay border crossing. We are now at the Francis Parker High School in San Diego having our first real showers since we left last Saturday. We'll be having a pizza lunch here, then a little down time and then to the Boardwalk for some fun.

Turning over the keys to house number 3! Team Trifacta did not quit and helped out this family of eleven who had been waiting for their home to be finished for the last two months. They were so grateful and there were lots of tears to go around.

June 17

Yahoooo! We finished site #2 today, a full day ahead of schedule. Site #1 got their first coat of stucco on and will put on their second tomorrow morning. About a third of our group will be going to finish up another house that was left unfinished. And for the first time we will paint one of the houses. The husband Adriano said we could choose the color, but that was too much pressure, so we called in Yolanda, his wife, who picked cantaloupe orange. Nice!
Fun campfire tonight too. Lots of fun stories, embarrassing moments and tons of laughs. camping Pros made no money on our group tonight either as they served burgers and dogs and the average consumption was around three.

We're having fun and looking forward to another great day.

Thanks for checking in.

June 16

Today was an awesome day for the most part. Both sites have all the walls up and the roof plywood on. One has finished the tar paper and chicken wire in prep for the stucco, the has the tar paper on and will be starting chicken wire in the AM.

We had a couple of small injuries today, one of the youth stepped on a nail and one of the adults hit his finger with a staple hammer. The nail injury was cleaned by Nurse Gina and the adult was taken back into San Diego where he received a few stitches.

We're having a great time, thanks for checking in.

June 15

We had a great day. We finished the foundation on both sites by 2:30 and we have built about half of the walls. We are way ahead of schedule. Everybody is tired and dirty, but in great spirits.

We have a great group this year. Everyone is working hard and doing a wonderful job.

Site 2 had a little problem with chicken footprints on their nicely trowled surface. It adds character.

Everyone is healthy, no injuries and having a great time.

So, we made it into Mexico, found our camp and ventured out to our work sites. The work sites are very close to camp(about 10 minutes) and are very easy sites to build on. We were able to get the foundation forms down and leveled. The two sites are right next to each other. We expect to be mixing concrete early tomorrow morning.

We're at camp now. We've finished dinner and journalling and are now hanging out by the camp fire listening to our many talented youth play guitars and sing.

Thanks for checking in

June 13

Pretty good day. After a very long bus ride. Using the bus rather the vans to get from San Anselmo to San Diego seemed to work out very well, at least according to most of the adults (who would have been driving the vans). We're spending the night in the Mission Hills Congregational Church and then into Mexico tomorrow. We picked up Laurie at the airport in San Diego. We also picked up our rental vans for the trip into Mexico. Everyone seems happy and healthy - don't think that we've even used a first aid kit yet.
Thanks for checking in.,
Jim

About halfway to San Diego. Taking a little break for lunch. Run is a little tight on the bus, but we're making good time.
